Woman Assaulted In Upper East Side Dispute: NYPD

Police were called after a woman was thrown to the ground Tuesday night inside an Upper East Side apartment, officials said.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A woman was thrown to the ground following a dispute inside an Upper East Side apartment, according to police.

Officers responded to a call of an assault inside of The Cherokee — a former tuberculosis sanitarium on East 78th Street off of York Avenue — on Tuesday at about 9:30 p.m., officials said.

Responding cops found a 45-year-old woman who told them that she was thrown to the ground during a verbal dispute with a 51-year-old man, police said.

The woman suffered minor injuries but refused medical attention at the scene, officials said.

Police said that the two people knew each other, but said the suspect's name had not been released nor had any arrests been made.

The man was described as having a light complexion and about six feet tall, wearing blue jeans and a blue jacket, according to police.

Officials said the investigation remains ongoing.
