Woman Hit, Killed By Car On Upper East Side Street: NYPD
The 78-year-old woman was walking on Thursday afternoon when the driver of a Nissan smashed into her, officials said.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A 78-year-old woman is dead after being struck by a pricey SUV as she crossed an Upper East Side street on Thursday, police said.
The woman was crossing the intersection of E. 93rd Street and Second Avenue at about 2:20 p.m. when the crash unfolded, police said.
As she crossed the street, a 60-year-old man behind the wheel of a 2023 Nissan Pathfinder went to make a left turn onto Second Avenue when he slammed into her, hurling her to the ground and leaving her with fatal injuries, officials said.

Police found the woman unconscious and unresponsive, and quickly rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead, authorities said.
The identity of the deceased woman has not yet been released, pending notification of her family.

An NYPD spokesperson said that the Nissan Pathfinder driver remained at the scene and was not arrested nor issued a summons, but an investigation is ongoing.
The Upper East Side has seen 475 total vehicle crashes in the past year, according to Crashmapper NYC, which maps and aggregates city crash data. Those crashes resulted in three deaths and 564 injuries, according to the data.
