87-Year-Old In Critical Condition After UWS Robbery, Police Say
The elderly man was punched in the head inside an Upper West Side bank.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify a man who critically injured an elderly man during a robbery inside an Upper West Side bank, police said.
On the night of Sunday, May 13 and 87-year-old man was inside a Citibank branch on Broadway between West 96th and 97th streets when an unknown man approached him from behind, police said. The man punched the 87-year-old in the head and took his money before fleeing the bank, police said.
The victim was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital where he remains in "extremely critical" condition, police said.

The suspect is described as a man in his 40s or 50s standing about 5-foot-9 and weighing about 150 pounds, police said. He was last seen wearing a dark top with a white undershirt, dark pants, dark shoes, a blue cap, large headphones and carrying an umbrella, police said.
