Where To Get Good Chinese Food On The UWS On Christmas

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — For some Upper West Siders, Christmas means it's time to take pictures with Santa at the giant Rockefeller tree and go ice skating in Central Park.

But, for the rest of the neighborhood, Jesus's birthday means it's time to order dim sum and go to the movies.

Ordering Chinese food on Christmas is a quintessential Jewish American tradition — one that took root in New York City more than a century ago, when Jewish and Chinese immigrant communities lived side by side downtown in Chinatown and the Lower East Side.
