Man Arrested After Rape In Upper West Side Stairwell, Cops Say
Jamel Mclver stands accused of attacking a 21-year-old woman in her building near West 65th Street, police said.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Cops arrested a man they say raped a 21-year-old woman on the Upper West Side this weekend, police said.
Harlem resident Jamel Mclver, 30, was also charged with a criminal sex act and sexually motivated burglary, police said.
Mclver followed the 21-year-old woman into her building near West 65th Street and West End Avenue about 1:20 a.m. Saturday, police said. He then followed her into an elevator, before forcing her out into a stairwell, police said.

The Harlem man eventually fled the building, and the woman was taken to a local hospital, police said.
Mclver was arrested on Sunday after being turned in by family members, PIX11 reported.

He is already facing a Bronx case from April 2019, where he broke into a teenager's bedroom while she was sleeping and forced her to touch his groin, the New York Post previously reported.
Mclver was arrested eight times between 2017 and 2019, police sources told the New York Post.
