Award-Winning Filmmakers Debut Movie At Natural History Museum

The film, titled "Backyard Wilderness," follows a young girl's discovery of the wonders of nature. The first screening is Sept. 14.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Award-winning filmmakers are brining their latest project to the American Museum of Natural History in September, museum officials said.

Emmy winners Andrew Young and Susan Todd's newest film "Backyard Wilderness" will debut at the museum on Sept. 14, museum officials said. The film focuses on a young girl and her modern family's discovery of the wonders of nature.

"The film reminds us that Wi-Fi is not the only connection that matters, and that sometimes in ordinary places you can uncover extraordinary things with the potential to transform you forever—you just need to step outside," a museum press release reads.

Screenings will take place at 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. in 2D and at 10:30 a.m., 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 p.m. in 3D, officials said. Tickets can be purchased at the museum or in advance on the museum's website.

The plot follows the film's main character, a young girl named Katie whose family is "absorbed by an array of electronic devices." That is, until Katie begins to explore the natural wonders of nature that surround her in daily life.
