Baby Falls Into UWS Subway Tracks After Stroller Breakdown: NYPD
The lock on a baby's stroller malfunctioned Thursday morning, sending the 8-year-old girl onto the tracks at the West 72nd Street station.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A baby girl was taken to the hospital after falling onto the tracks of an Upper West Side subway station when her stroller malfunctioned, an NYPD spokesman said.
Police officers arrived at the West 72nd Street and Broadway station around 9:20 a.m. Thursday after receiving reports that a baby fell on the tracks, police said. An 8-month-old baby girl, who was conscious but had a bump on the head was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital for treatment, police said.
Investigators believe the girl suffered the injury when a lock on her stroller broke, causing the stroller to roll into the northbound 1 train tracks at the station, police said. The girl's father jumped down onto the tracks and brought the baby and stroller back up to the platform with the help of a bystander, police said.
