Cyclist Dies After Being Hit By Door In Morningside Heights: NYPD
The 57-year-old bicyclist died of his injuries days after being struck by a driver opening their car door.

MORNINGSIDE HEIGHTS, NY — A man was killed after being struck by an open car door while biking in Morningside Heights, police said.
Juan Pacheco, 57, was riding in the vicinity of Broadway and La Salle Street on the night of Friday, April 20 when the driver of a 2007 Nissan Quest opened his door, police said. The door struck Pacheco and caused him to fall into the roadway, police said.
EMS responded to the scene and found Pacheco to be unconscious and unresponsive, police said. The cyclist was taken to Saint Luke's Hospital in critical condition and died of his injuries on Monday, April 23, police said.

The 40-year-old driver stayed on the scene of the collision and was not arrested, police said. The NYPD investigation into the deadly collision remains open, police said.
