DSW To Shutter Massive 30K-Sq-Ft UWS Storefront: Report
The DSW Shoe Warehouse on the corner of Broadway and West 79th Street will abandon the storefront by February 2022, reports Crain's NY.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The DSW Shoe Warehouse will leave its massive 30,000 square-foot store vacant at 2220 Broadway (corner of West 79th Street) on the Upper West Side by February 2022, reports Crain's New York Business.
There are few more recognizable storefronts on the Upper West Side than the DSW. The combination of multiple train entrances on West 79th Street, the nearby entrance to the West Side Highway, and the surrounding number of businesses make it one of the busier areas in the neighborhood.

DSW, a retail chain known for its discounted brand-name and designer shoes and handbags, has served Upper West Siders at the location since 2012. Before DSW moved into the UWS storefront, it was a Filene's Basement outpost.

DSW rents the store from Upper West Side royalty — the Zabar family, according to Crain's New York. Zabar's did not answer Crain's request for comment, but the business publication did say that "the landlord is searching for a new tenant to take over the space in an unusually tough retail market."
DSW has three other locations in Manhattan, in Harlem, near Penn Station, and in Union Square.
