UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Gabriella's was one of the most popular Mexican restaurants on the Upper West Side before shuttering in 2019 after 15 years of serving customers in the neighborhood.

The expansive ground floor space at 688 Columbus Avenue, between West 93rd and 94th Streets, has sat empty in the years since.

That's all about to change, though, as Commerical Observer recently reported that Agave Restaurant and Tequila Bar has signed a 15-year lease on the 4,400 square feet of the ground floor, the 1,500-square-foot patio, and 300 square feet in the basement on the address.

Agave, a southwestern restaurant, also has a location in Greenwich Village.

“We are thrilled that Agave will bring its Southwestern cuisine and charm to the Upper West Side,” Aaron Gavios, who represented the tenant in the deal, said in a statement to Commerical Observer. “Agave’s serene, smart adobe scene provides a glowing setting for the fusion of tradition and Southwestern innovation of chef Raul Juarez.”
