UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A successful restauranteur born in the Bronx and who spent more than three decades living in an artist community outside of Florence, just opened an Italian eatery on the Upper West Side.

Cafe Paradiso opened last week at 144 W. 65th St., between Amsterdam and Broadway, within the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center at Lincoln Center building. It is replacing Indie Food & Wine at the same location, which closed on Feb. 1 after serving customers since 2011.

The restaurant is run by Shelly Fireman, who oversees a restaurant group that includes the Upper West Side's Cafe Fiorella, as well as Bond 45, Brooklyn Diner and Trattoria Dell'Arte.

"Café Paradiso represents a merger of two cultures – Italian and American – with love," reads an About section on the new eatery's website. Conceived, built and run by a mixture of 35 years of living in Italy in Pietrasanta, an artist community outside of Florence, and being raised in the Bronx.

The menu is broken into four sections: breakfast, lunch & dinner, drinks, and catering.

Various types of coffee are also available.

It is open every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
