Lawns At Teddy Roosevelt Park To Open In Pilot Program: Report
Two of the park's four lawns will be opened to the public for the summer.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Two of the lawns inside Teddy Roosevelt Park — the green space that surrounds the American Museum of Natural History — will be open to the public this summer, according to reports.
Teddy Roosevelt Park's northwest lawn, located at West 81st Street and Columbus Avenue, and southwest Lawn, located at West 77th Street and Columbus Avenue, will open on Memorial Day, the West Side Rag first reported. The lawns are opening as part of a pilot program for the Parks Department initiative "parks without borders," according to the report.
The lawns will mainly be used for passive activities, the West Side Rag reported.

"The idea is for people to go there, relax, lie on the grass, enjoy them, but they will not be for any kind of sports or pets," Parks Department Manhattan Borough Commissioner William Castro said at a Community Board 7 meeting, as reported by the West Side Rag.
The lawns will be open five days a week from 9 a.m.-7 p.m., the West Side Rag reported. The day's the lawn's aren't open are considered "rest days" and each lawn will have different days for rest, according to the report.
