Lincoln Center Announces 2019 Midsummer Night Swing Events
This year marks the 30th anniversary of outdoor dance parties and concerts at Lincoln Center.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — As Upper West Siders begin to take advantage of warm weather returning to the city, Lincoln Center is gearing up for another summer full of outdoor concerts and dance parties.
The performing arts center recently announced its lineup for the 30th season of its Midsummer Night Swing series, which is set to begin on Tuesday, June 25 and run through Saturday, July 13.
"Over the past 30 years, Midsummer Night Swing has become a summer tradition for New Yorkers and visitors alike, bringing people from all walks of life together in Damrosch Park," Jill Sternheimer, director of public programming for Lincoln Center, said in a statement. "New and seasoned dancers of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities are welcome to share the dance floor and experience the unique joy of social dance."

This year's Midsummer Night Swing events cater to a wide variety of musical genres and dance styles. Latin music will be well represented with performances by Brazil's Elba Ramalho, the Puerto Rico–based Bobby Valentín Orchestra and Analía Goldberg of the Argentinian orchestra Color Tango. The Harlem Renaissance Orchestra will return to close out the festival on July 13.
Each event will begin around 6:30 p.m. with a beginner's dance lesson, according to a Lincoln Center press release. After the dance lesson, live music will start around 7:30 p.m. and the parties will rage until about 10 p.m., according to the press release.

Kids can also take part in the fun during a dance class on the basics of the merengue, tango, salsa and swing styles. The class will be conducted by LC Kids Dance with Dancing Classrooms on July 13 from 3-4:30 p.m., Lincoln Center officials said.
Tickets for the Midsummer Night Swing series can be bought online. Tickets start at $18 for each event.
