Central Park Attacker Nabbed For Slamming Woman's Head Into Tree: Cops

Juan Garcia, 24, was arrested late Friday after a woman was attacked in Central Park earlier this month, the NYPD said.

CENTRAL PARK, NY — A man who slammed a woman's head into a tree in Central Park earlier this month was arrested on Friday, police said.

Juan Garcia, 24, stands accused of attacking a 55-year-old woman strolling along the reservoir about 6 a.m. on April 6, police said.

Garcia, of The Bronx, first tried to start a conversation then repeatedly knocked her head against a tree and fled on a CitiBike toward the Upper East Side, police said.

The woman was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, police said.
