Man Arrested For UWS Stabbing, Police Say

A 25-year-old man is facing assault charges in connection with a Feb. 16 attack on Broadway and West 93rd Street.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A man is facing charges for an Upper West Side stabbing that sent a victim to the hospital in serious condition, police said.

Carlos Hernandez, 25, was arrested Tuesday and charged with assault with intent to cause serious injury in connection with a Feb. 16 attack that occurred near Broadway and West 93 Street, police said.

Hernandez is accused of approaching a 39-year-old man, sitting next to him on a bench and threatening to stab him, police said. After the threat, a fight broke out where Hernandez stabbed the man repeatedly in the torso and slashed him across the face with an unknown sharp object, police said.

EMS rushed the victim to Mount Sinai St. Luke's hospital in serious but stable condition.
