Ex-Con Breaks Cop's Leg During UWS Arrest Escape, Police Say

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — An ex-convict broke the leg of a police officer who tried to arrest him for robbing an Upper West Side pharmacy, police said.

Lincoln George, 48, stands accused of kicking a police officer who tried to arrest him near West 91st Street and Amsterdam Avenue shortly after 4:35 a.m. Sunday, said police.

The Officer had stopped George and a woman while investigating the robbery of a nearby Duane Reade pharmacy, police said.

After kicking the officer, George was able to flee the scene, police said. The woman was arrested, police said.

George is an ex-convict who was released on parole in March, according to the New York State Department of Corrections. The ex-con served prison sentences for attempted robbery between 1988 and 2001, according to state records.

Police describe George as a man standing 5-foot 11-inches and weighing about 170 pounds.
