Man In Hard Hat Robs UWS Bank, Police Say

The bank robber — who was also wearing a wig — was disguised as a construction worker.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify a man who robbed an Upper West Side bank while disguised as a construction worker, police said.

The man walked into a Santander Bank branch on the corner of Broadway and West 82nd Street around 12:15 p.m. Thursday and approached a bank teller, police said. The man then passed the teller a note demanding money, police said.

The bank teller complied with the man's demands and handed him an unknown amount of cash, police said. The bank robber then fled the location by foot heading north on Broadway, police said.

The bank robber is described as a man in his 40s or 50s standing 6-foot-4 and weighing about 215 pounds, police said. He was wearing an orange hard hat, an orange vest, a gray sweatshirt, gray pants and black sneakers during the robbery, police said. The robber was also donning a black wig, police said.
