Man Hurt In Drive-By Shooting On Upper West Side: Police

A 37-year-old man was shot in the hip while sitting in his car Monday night at Columbus Avenue and West 72nd Street, police said.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A 37-year-old man was shot Monday night just after 10 p.m. while sitting in his car at the corner of Columbus Avenue and West 72nd Street, a police spokesperson told Patch.

The man was seated in his vehicle when a dark-colored SUV pulled up alongside him, and one of the passengers fired multiple shots into the car, police said.

One of the bullets hit the 37-year-old in the hip, who later took himself to an Upper East Side hospital, police said. The gunshot injury was not life-threatening.

The SUV drove off in an unknown direction, police said.

The investigation remains ongoing, and there have been no arrests.
