Accused Rapist Indicted After UWS Woman Attacked In Her Building: DA
Jamel Mclver is accused of raping a woman in the staircase of her Upper West Side building at the beginning of March, the DA said.
UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A man accused of raping a woman in her Upper West Side building was indicted Wednesday on a slew of charges, the Manhattan District Attorney's office announced.
Jamel Mclver, 30, was charged with rape, a criminal sex act, and burglary in connection to a March 4th attack of a woman, 21, in her building near West 65th Street and West End Avenue, the District Attorney said.
“The horrific conduct charged in the indictment is beyond disturbing,” said District Attorney Alvin Bragg, in a news release. “New Yorkers should not have to fear for their safety when they walk into their apartment buildings."
