The 26-year-old man will face attempted murder charges.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A man accused of beating his girlfriend and setting her on fire in his Upper West Side apartment building is facing attempted murder charges, police said.

Larry McGloster, 26, was arrested and charged with attempted murder, assault, arson and criminal possession of a weapon, police said. McGloster is accused of brutally assaulting his 32-year-old girlfriend Tuesday in a public housing building on the corner of Columbus Avenue and West 100th Street, police said.

McGloster beat up his girlfriend in the hallway of the apartment building and doused her with an unknown substance around noon Tuesday, police said. After setting the woman on fire, McGloster fled the apartment building, police said.

The woman — who has not been identified — suffered severe burns and was taken to Harlem Hospital in critical but sable condition, police said. She was rescued by a neighbor who wrapped her in a sheet to douse the flames, the Daily News reported.

"She was knocking on everybody's door. She was hollering for help," neighbor Bonnie Chapman, who works as a security guard, told the Daily News. "I grab a sheet and put her out."
