Man's Body Pulled From Hudson River On UWS, Police Say

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A man's body was recovered from the Hudson River on Friday morning off of Riverside Park on the Upper West Side, an NYPD spokesman said.

A man jogging in Riverside Park near West 89th Street called the police around 11:20 a.m. to report what appeared to be a body in the river, an NYPD spokesman said. Officers from the Emergency Services Unit responded to the scene and pulled an unknown man to shore, police said.

EMS pronounced the man dead at the scene, police said. The man was fully clothed and did not show obvious signs of trauma. The city medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the man's exact cause of death, police said.

Police are treating the death as an ongoing investigation, an NYPD spokesman said. Preliminary evidence indicates the man is in his late 50s or early 60s, but police could not identify him.
