McAleer's Pub To Close After 65 Years On Upper West Side

The family-owned Irish pub on Amsterdam Avenue will close May 7.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Family-owned Upper West Side nightlife staple McAleer's Pub will close next month after 65 years in business, its owners announced on Facebook last week.

The Irish pub's owners are shutting down the business on May 7 to enjoy retirement, according to a statement posted to the businesses' Facebook page. McAleer's owner, Keith McAleer, described the pub's tenure on the Upper West Side as a "great ride."

"I want to take this time to thank all the current and former staff members over these many years that represented McAleer's Pub so well. It's been a great ride. Thank you all so much," a statement posted to the pub's Facebook page reads.
