UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Family and friends are asking for help in finding Alyssa Olivier, 39, who has been missing since first arriving in New York City at the beginning of August and was recently seen on the Upper West Side.

Through the work of a private investigator, video footage shows Olivier attempting to make a phone call to her daughter from a LINK NYC kiosk on Amsterdam Avenue and West 88th Street on Sept. 29.

The majority of information about Olivier's whereabouts and recent sightings came from her friend and two missing person posters.

Most recently, she was spotted Tuesday with a white kitten around 1 p.m. at Union Square, but by the time friends arrived at the spot — she was gone, Olivier's friend and former classmate, Sophie, told Patch. She did not provide a last name.

Olivier, a Colorado resident, first arrived in New York City on Aug. 2. She stopped sending texts two days later on Aug. 4.

Olivier's family reached out to friends of hers in late August to see if anybody had made contact with her.

The Colorado resident has a history of taking long religious retreats, but the absence felt different to the family since she had never gone so long without speaking to her 11-year-old daughter, Sophie told Patch.

After multiple friends responded that they had not heard from her, the family filed a missing person report in Colorado.

Olivier's car was then found in September in NYC with the battery dead and an empty gas tank, Sophie said. Her purse and electronics were still inside the car, but her wallet was gone.

Nobody heard anything from Olivier until Sept. 29, when she attempted to call her husband — who she is separated from — at 6:20 a.m. from a kiosk. She then tried again at 8 a.m. The call was missed, but a private investigator brought into the case was able to determine the calls came from 17th Street and 6th Avenue, and then Amsterdam Avenue and West 88th Street on the Upper West Side.

A video also emerged near the West 88th Street location of Olivier yelling and kicking out at someone walking down the street.

"As you can imagine, we were shocked to see her in this agitated state, as she is such a peaceful and loving soul," Sophie said.

Olivier also suffers from multiple autoimmune conditions, so she most likely needs medical attention, according to a missing poster for her. She also may be walking with a limp.

The family asks anyone with any information about Olivier or who thinks they might have seen her — to call the numbers on two missing posters.
