Huge Gold Cube Replaced By Massive Block Of Cheese

CENTRAL PARK, NY — It is hard not to call it anything but a cheesy chunk of marketing genius by Velveeta.

One day after the world's largest gold cube appeared in Central Park to promote a new cryptocurrency, Velvetta placed its own liquid gold cube in the famous Manhattan park.

"Liquid gold cube > solid gold cube," Velveeta tweeted out Friday morning. "Seriously it's in Central Park, go check it out."

Jogger Fintan Quill told Patch he ran by the massive block of cheese at the Naumburg Bandshell, near the Bethesda Terrace, Friday morning hoping instead to spot the 410-pound gold cube.

How did he feel about finding cheese instead? "Disappointed."

Did he have a sudden hankering for Velveeta cheese? "Not particularly."

Velveeta said the "artful cheese" is 8-feet, or 96 inches, which is 1400 times the size of a regular Velveeta and almost half the size of Michelangelo's sculpture of David.

When asked if the box of cheese had security protection like the $11 million solid gold cube did on Thursday, Velveeta brought up sunsets and rainbows.

"Does a sunset have a bodyguard? Does a rainbow require protection? But yes, we're required to have someone there to monitor," the cheese company tweeted. "But we promise he's cool."
