New Upper West Side Trader Joe's Now Hiring

The Columbus Avenue and West 93rd Street Trader Joe's will holding a job fair in April, signaling it may open soon.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The second Upper West Side location of popular grocery store Trader Joe's is getting ready to open.

Trader Joe's will hold a three-day job fair at its upcoming location at 670 Columbus Ave., located between West 92nd and 93rd streets, between Tuesday, April 10 and Thursday, April 12, according to a listing on the company's website. The job fairs will be held between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

The grocery store is looking to hire "crew members" — employees responsible for tasks such as bagging groceries, stocking shelves and helping customers with various needs around the store — according to the listing.

The main requirement for prospective employees is "a passion for people and a fervor for food," according to the listing. The job listing lists the positions as part time (up to 38 hours per week) and paying between $15 and $20 per hour.

Listings for managerial positions at the new store were not found on the Trader Joe's website.

Trader Joe's announced that it would open a store on Columbus Avenue nearly two years ago. The store was originally slated to open in late 2017, but the debut has been pushed back on two occasions.

The new Trader Joe's should serve as a relief to the entire neighborhood. Customers at West 72nd Street may see the long lines shrink and residents of the northern section of the Upper West Side won't have to travel quite so far for their kale chips.

Trader Joe's has taken New York City by storm since opening its first store in Union Square in 2006. The company now has locations in neighborhoods such as Soho, Chelsea, Midtown East, Brooklyn Heights and Rego Park.
