New UWS Pizza Spot To Feature Indoor Hydroponic Garden

Oath Pizza's latest location will serve up "sustainable" pizza from on Broadway near West 77th Street.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The Upper West Side's newest pizza place will open Thursday with a feature that will make it stand out from the neighborhood's other slice and pie spots: An indoor farm.

Oath Pizza, a chain that's starting to spread into New York City, has already soft opened its new location on Broadway between West 76th and 77th streets and will hold a grand opening celebration on Thursday, Sept. 27, its CEO said in a LinkedIn post.

Whats's unique about Oath Pizza's new Upper West Side location is that many of the toppings and produce used for the pizzas will be grown in the store. The CEO of Farmshelf — a company that manufactures and installs indoor "hydroponic growing systems" — announced a partnership with Oath Pizza on LinkedIn.

"If you are in NYC stop by there Upper West Side location on Thursday for its Grand Opening. The future of high quality, nutritious and fresh food has never been more exciting," Andrew Shearer, the Farmshelf chief executive, said on the social media platform.

The pizza place will offer half-priced pies on Thursday, according to an post on the chain's Instagram page. Customers can cash in on the discounted pizzas between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. and can also pick up free samples and "swag," according to the post.

Most of Oath Pizza's locations are in Boston, but the chain does operate one other New York City restaurant on Third Avenue and East 67th Street on the Upper East Side, according to the business' website.
