Outdoor Movie Screenings Return To Upper West Side

This year's "Movies Under the Stars!" series begins Wednesday, May 15.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Spring has sprung, which means its time for outdoor movie screenings in New York City.

The "Movies Under the Stars!" screening series returns to the Upper West Side on Wednesday, May 15, according to the city Parks Department. The film series will feature four free screenings at different neighborhood parks.

The film screenings are free and begin around 7:30 p.m. each night, according to the Parks Department. The department advises people to arrive before showtime to snag seats and warns that a limited amount of seating is available at each park.

Here's this year's film screening schedule:

  • Wednesday, May 16th: "The Space Between Us" at Tecumseh Playground, Amsterdam Avenue and West 78th Street.
  • Saturday, May 19th: "Coco" at PS 166 Playground, West 89th Street between Columbus and Amsterdam avenues.
  • Wednesday, May 23rd: "Wonder" at PS 163 Happy Warrior Playground, Amsterdam Avenue and West 97th Street.
  • Tuesday, June 12th: "Black Panther" at PS 199 Matthew Sapolin Playground, West 70th Street between Amsterdam and West End avenues.
