Popular Taco Restaurant Opens On The UWS: Check It Out

Empellon Taqueria, which already has locations in Midtown and the West and East Village, opened in Waterline Square on Friday.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — It is almost always a good thing when a new well-liked taco restaurant opens in the neighborhood, and that is exactly what happened on Friday.

Empellon Taqueria, which has three other locations in Manhattan, opened its doors within Waterline Square at 645 West 59th Street.

The menu focuses on tacos, guacamole, queso fundido, and seasonal vegetable dishes, according to its website.

Local delivery is also available and its drink offerings feature margaritas and cocktails crafted from artisanal Mexican spirits, along with a selection of beer and wine.

The restaurant will be open Sundays through Thursdays from 5 to 10 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays from 5 to 11 p.m.

The restaurant is airy and light-filled with glass walls. There's an open kitchen inside with 60 seats, and another 60 seats on the sidewalk, according to a write-up from the New York Times about Empellon Taqueria's opening on the Upper West Side.

Empellon was founded in 2011.
