Renderings Give First Look At UWS Cipriani Food Hall

The 28,000-square-foot food hall will be located within the massive Waterline Square development on Riverside Boulevard.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — New renderings offer a first look at the planned 28,000-square-foot Cipriani food hall that will dish out Italian staples on the Upper West Side.

The food hall is designed by Martin Brudnizki and incorporates lots of wooden decor and a sleek and open vibe, according to renderings released Tuesday. The entire food hall will be run by the Cipriani family and follows in the mold of Eataly in that it features both retail shopping and restaurants.

In addition to a full-service Cipriani restaurant the food hall will feature small-scale vendors that dish out coffee, gelato, pizza and alcoholic drinks. The food hall will be open daily between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., according to a company press release.

Residents of the Waterline Square development that will house the food hall will be entitled to a "benefits package" that includes special deals, catering and access to a private entrance that goes directly between the development and the food hall, according to the press release.

GID and Cipriani announced their partnership in the summer of 2017. The food hall will occupy space in the building known as Two Waterline Square, located on Riverside Boulevard between West 59th and 61st streets. The Waterline Square developments have since topped out, and applications for below-market units in the developments were open in late 2018.

"We are creating a dynamic food, beverage, and market destination, where Midtown meets the Upper West Side, with one of the world's most established and recognized names in dining and hospitality," James Linsley, president of GID Development Group, said in a 2017 statement.

The Cipriani family's roots in the food industry go back to 1931, when Giuseppe Cipriani Sr. opened Harry's Bar in the Piazza San Marco, Venice. Now the family operates dining establishments in cities such as New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Mexico City and Dubai.

The Waterline Square development will span nearly five acres along Riverside Boulevard between West 59th and West 61st streets.
