Robber Who Left Man Critically Injured On UWS Arrested: Police
The man is accused of punching an 87-year-old in the head inside an Upper West Side bank, leaving the victim in critical condition.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A man is facing charges for a brutal robbery on the Upper West Side, police said.
Matthew Lee, 50, was arrested Wednesday and charged with robbery and assault, police said. He is accused of punching an 87-year-old man in the head during a robbery at a neighborhood bank, police said.
On the night of Sunday, May 13 the victim was using an ATM machine at a Citibank branch on Broadway between West 96th and 97th streets when Lee approached him from behind, police said. Lee struck the 87-year-old in the head and took his money before fleeing the bank, police said.

The victim was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital where he remains in "extremely critical" condition, police said.
The 87-year-old was identified as former Lehman College professor Dr. Young Kun Kim, the New York Post reported. Former students described the professor as "sweet" and "very understanding," in interviews with the Post.
