Teacher Assaults Teen At UWS School, Police Say
The 50-year-old Spanish teacher is accused of pulling a chair out from a 15-year-old and pinning the child against a wall with a desk.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A Spanish teacher at an Upper West Side high school is facing charges for assaulting one of his students, police said.
Jose Garcia, 50, was arrested Monday and charged with assault and endangering the welfare of a child, an NYPD spokesperson said.. Garcia taught Spanish at West End Secondary School on West 61st Street and West End Avenue, according to his LinkedIn profile.
The teacher is accused of pulling the chair out from under a 15-year-old student, causing the teen to fall to the ground, police said. Garcia then pinned the student against a classroom wall using a desk, police said. The teacher was arrested after the student complained to school officials.

The 15-year-old complained of stomach pain after the assault, an NYPD spokeswoman said.
