Trio Caught After Trying To Rob Dad, Leading To UWS Shootout: DA
The shootout happened after three men tried robbing a dad holding his two-year-old baby at 75th Street and Central Park West, the DA said.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Three men are facing charges after trying to rob a father holding his baby on the Upper West Side, leading to a shootout with police in Riverside Park, the Manhattan District Attorney's Office announced on Monday.
On Jan. 6, Mark McFadden, 53, Oliver Richardson, 50, and Joseph Gallishaw, 50, followed a man driving his car for several blocks on the Upper West Side, the DA said. When the man eventually parked at West 75th Street and Central Park West, two of the men jumped out of their car and pointed a gun at the man who was holding his 2-year-old child, the DA said.
A struggle ensued and McFadden fired his gun, narrowly missing the man and his child, instead striking a car behind them, the DA said.

The trio then jumped back into their car and fled, but were spotted a short time later on the West Side Highway, the DA said.
After police tried to pull their car over, the three men got out of the car near West 106th Street and the West Side Highway, hopped the fence and ran into Riverside Park, the DA said.

NYPD officers chased after the trio into the busy park, where Gallishaw and Richardson hid behind the wall of a staircase, the DA said.
McFadden shot at a police officer during the chase but missed, the DA added.
The trio were eventually caught and three guns were recovered from the Upper West Side park, the DA said.
"Gun violence is unacceptable in any form, but the alleged actions of these defendants put the lives of a father, his young child and an NYPD officer serving our city at risk,” District Attorney Alvin Bragg said in a news release. “Everyone deserves to enjoy the scenic and historic views of the Upper West Side and Riverside Park safely and we will not tolerate this type of violence anywhere in Manhattan.”
Bragg also thanked the NYPD for their work, specifically 24th Precinct Detectives Robert Maxcy and Paul Scott, 24th Precinct Officers John Carty and Liridon Ahmedi, and 20th Precinct Detective Hector Figueroa.
McFadden was charged with attempted murder, and all three of the men were charged with a slew of robbery related offenses, the DA said.
