Upper West Side Key Food Moving Locations, Doubling Its Size
Key Food on the UWS is moving from the corner of Amsterdam and 97th Street to 96th Street — and giving shoppers more space to shop.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — In some major grocery store news on the Upper West Side, the Key Food on 755 Amsterdam Avenue will be moving down the block to a much larger location at 725-733 Amsterdam Avenue.
The move means the grocery chain location is going from the corner of West 97th Street to the corner of West 96th Street. The change of address was first reported by TheRealDeal.
An employee confirmed to Patch that the store will be moving, and the new location is expected to open on Jan. 31.

The new store will be 14,000 square feet, with 10,000 square feet on the ground floor and 4,000 more square feet in the basement, reported TheRealDeal.
It is nearly double the size of Key Food's current UWS location.

TheRealDeal also reported that Key Food will be paying $100 per square foot for the location and the lease has a base term of 15 years.
"They’ve been in the neighborhood for about 25 years now," Greg Parassio, who brokered the deal between the property and grocer, told TheRealDeal. "They love the neighborhood, and they just wanted a larger space.”
Shoppers that frequented the 97th Street Key Food location will be happy to hear about the nearby move to a bigger space as complaints have come in over the years about the crowdedness of the cashier lanes at its current address.
