Upper West Side Fire Near Broadway Leaves 1 Hurt, FDNY Says
The four-alarm fire brought more than 150 firefighters and EMS to West 101st Street between Broadway and West End Avenue.
UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — One person was seriously injured after a three-alarm fire broke out Wednesday on the Upper West Side, an FDNY spokesman said.
Firefighters responded to a blaze on the third floor of a seven-story apartment building at 229 W. 101st St. between West End Avenue and Broadway around 12:40 p.m., an FDNY spokesman said. The response was upgraded to a fourth alarm after 1 p.m., bringing more than 150 fire and EMS personnel to the scene, the spokesman said.
The fire appeared to spread from the third floor to at least two more stories in the building, according to photos released by the FDNY.

One civilian suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital, an FDNY spokesman said.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control just before 2 p.m., fire officials said. The cause of the fire is currently unknown and will be investigated by city fire marshals.
