Victoria's Secret Permanently Closes UWS Store: Report
A listing posted for the shuttered UWS storefront on the corner of Broadway and 85th Street has an asking rent of $156,250 a month.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The Victoria's Secret storefront on the corner of Broadway and West 85th Street is permanently closed. The news was first reported by ILoveTheUpperWestSide.
The specific Upper West Side street has become a bit of a graveyard for local businesses, with Aldo and Origins both having closed on the same block in the past few years. Broadway, between West 84th and 85th Street, is now littered with vacant storefronts.
A customer service representative from Victoria's Secret confirmed to ILoveTheUpperWestSide the store's last day was Saturday. The retailer did not immediately respond to Patch's request for comment.

Part of the local business' struggles to stay open might have something to do with the rent.
There is already an open listing for the Victoria's Secret space at 2333 Broadway and its initial asking price is $250 for every square foot.

The UWS store is 7,500 square feet, meaning that the asking rent is $156,250 a month and $1,875,000 a year.
Victoria's Secret is the second major Upper West Side storefront to announce its closure in the past week, with DSW just announcing that it will permanently shutter its 30,000 square-foot store at 2220 Broadway in February.
