Warby Parker Will Open 2nd Upper West Side Location This Weekend

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Lovers of more affordable glasses rejoice. Warby Parker is opening a second location on the Upper West Side this weekend.

The glasses retailer will open on Saturday at 424 Columbus Ave., between 80th and 81st streets, across from the American Museum of Natural History, according to the store and as first reported by ILoveTheUpperWestSide.

"Inside of our 80th & Columbus store you’ll find a New York institution of our own creation: the Warby Parker Museum of the Blue-Footed Booby," reads a description for the new location. "It’s full of fun zoological findings, in-shop photo ops, and artistic homages to our unofficial, avian mascot."

What is a "Booby" you might ask?

It is a seabird that serves as Warby Parker's unofficial mascot.

Outside of the bird and other odes to the nearby American Museum of Natural History, there will also be glasses, sunglasses, contacts, and more.

The store will be open every day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

This will be Warby Parker's second location on the Upper West Side, which has another storefront at 68th Street and Columbus. Overall it is the retailer's 17th store in New York City.

The opening at 424 Columbus Ave. will also help a section of Upper West Side street that has been blighted by recent closures, including Andy's Deli, Rituals, and Flying Tiger Copenhagen.

The new Warby Parker's will specifically open in the shuttered Flying Tiger Copenhagen next to a Patagonia location.
