Woman, 69, Hit By Car and Killed on Upper West Side
A woman was crossing West 75th Street when she was hit and killed by a vehicle.

A woman was hit and killed while crossing West 75th Street and Broadway on the Upper West Side Tuesday night, according to police.
Stephanie Dains, 69, was hit by an Infiniti SUV while trying to cross against the signal, police said. The vehicle remained on the scene and no charges have been filed. The accident occurred at 8:37 p.m.
Dains suffered a head injury and was taken to St. Luke's Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The New York Daily News reports Dains and her husband were major philanthropists, donating $5 million to Washington University in St. Louis and founding Art4Moore, a non-profit which provides art supplies to people in San Francisco. Her husband John F. Dains is the CEO emeritus of Helm Financial in San Francisco.
