Woman, 82, Dies In Morningside Heights Car Crash, Police Say
The woman was driving on Riverside Drive when she mounted a curb and struck a pole.

MORNINGSIDE HEIGHTS, NY — An 82-year-old woman was killed Monday in a one-car crash in Morningside Heights, police said.
Margaret Acosta, a resident of the Hamilton Heights section of Harlem, was driving southbound on Riverside Drive Monday afternoon when she mounted the curb at Tiemann Place, police said. Acosta accelerated on the sidewalk until striking a pole, police said.
Officers arrived at the scene of the crash around 1:15 p.m. to discover Acosta unconscious and unresponsive inside her 2013 Hyundai Sonata, police said. The woman was transported to Saint Luke's Roosevelt Hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The NYPD's Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad is still investigating the cause of the fatal, one-car crash, police said.
No pedestrians or other drivers were injured during the crash, police said.
