Woman Jumps In Front Of Train On Upper West Side, Police Say

The woman was pronounced dead after jumping in front of a train at the West 86th Street and Broadway subway station.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A woman died Thursday night after being hit by a train on the Upper West Side, an NYPD spokesman said.

The "emotionally disturbed" woman jumped in front of a southbound 1 train at the West 86th Street and Broadway subway station around 10 p.m. Thursday, the NYPD spokesman said. Emergency responders removed the woman's body from under the train and pronounced her dead at the scene, the spokesman said.

No criminality is suspected in the woman's death.

Trains bypassed the West 86th Street station for about an hour as emergency responders worked on the scene, MTA officials said.
