  1. The Beacon Center is set to open a new mental health outpatient clinic in Utica Monday, Mar. 27. The clinic, located at 1508 Genesee Street, will have counselors specialized in several mental health issues, including trauma and domestic violence counseling. The clinic will serve Oneida County and the surrounding areas, providing substance abuse treatment.   2. The United States Premier Hockey League and the Utica Jr. Comets organization are partnering to host the 2023 USPHL Premier and Elite National Championships through Tuesday afternoon. The tournament, held at the Utica University Nexus Center since Thursday, features teams from all over the United States. The USPHL Elite National Championship Game will be held on Monday, Mar. 27, and the USPHL Premier National Championship game one day later on Tuesday, Mar. 28.   3. Recent data revealed Utica University saw a 45 percent increase in applications and first-year deposits. Deposits from first-year students are higher than they’ve been in more than ten years, with applications also being up 26 percent for first-year students and 82 percent for transfers. While the UU Board of Trustees recently announced its decision to remove majors due to low enrollment, the university still offers 16 out of the top 22 majors college students seek. (WKTV)
