A "Haunted Whodunnit" Hits the Stage: Oneida County History Center Presents "Utica Boo"

A fun, educational, and hilarious way to connect with the past

Get ready for a frightfully good time and a deliciously local mystery! The Oneida County History Center proudly presents "Utica Boo," a new play written by acclaimed local author Dennis Webster and directed by the talented Deborah Martin. This captivating performance promises to be a "Haunted Whodunnit" that brings Utica's history, food, and spirits to life.

Performances will be held at the Oneida County History Center, located at 1608 Genesee Street, on:

  • Sunday, October 12, 2025
  • Tuesday, October 14, 2025

Utica Boo! offers a fun way to connect with the past through the ghosts of local figures like Roscoe Conkling and Roxalana Druse. This haunted whodunnit features local dishes such as Chicken Riggies and tomato pie. The story follows Brittany, a Utica historian, who aims to clarify misconceptions about these ghosts while introducing them to regional cuisine. As a thrilling mystery unfolds, the audience tries to guess the killer. This play combines history, mystery, and local pride.

"We are thrilled to bring Dennis Webster's exciting new work, under the direction of Deborah Martin, to our stage," said the History Center's Executive Director, Rebecca McLain. "This unique blend of a mystery, local foods, and history is a perfect way for our community to engage with our past in a fun and truly memorable way."
