- Utica resident Shelly L. Wilkes, 40, was accused of allegedly attacking family members in a moving vehicle on Route 49. Wilkes is facing multiple charges after attacking her daughter, sister, and niece in a moving vehicle on Route 49 in Rome, violating orders of protection. She is charged with three counts of first-degree contempt, three counts of second-degree harassment, second-degree reckless endangerment, and endangering the welfare of a child. - A 22-year-old Utica man is facing drug charges after police allegedly found 70 grams of cocaine and over $8,300 in cash during a search of his home on Oswego Street. The man, Jamal Cochran, was arrested and charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance after the police search, which took place on Apr. 26. The search and subsequent arrest are part of a lengthy investigation into the sale and distribution of drugs. (WKTV)
- A former rapist and murderer has recently moved onto Bleeker Street in Utica after being granted parole. Carl Macedonio, 75, was convicted of rape and murder in 1971 and spent over 50 years in prison before moving to Utica. Macedonio is also a registered level three sex offender, and the police department has shared his address. (WKTV)
