Here are the top three stories today in Utica:

  1. After a few delays, the Syracuse-based restaurant Brooklyn Pickle will have its opening day on Apr. 17 in Utica. After the initial opening date in March was set back due to construction delays, the ribbon-cutting ceremony has been reset at 600 State St. The restaurant president is excited for his establishment to be part of the resurgence of the city. Brooklyn Pickle is known for its giant sandwiches, daily specials, and of course, pickles. The location is in a prime location with a lot of parking, nearby housing for residents to get a quick meal, and even online order/pick-up options. (WKTV)
  2. On Friday, Mar. 24, an SUV crashed into Holland Farms Bakery and Deli, smashing its front windows, damaging a wall, and knocking over a few shelves. Located in Yorkville, right next to Utica, the establishment will continue operation with the windows boarded up while replacements and repairs are made. No one was injured in the incident. 3. Utica is making the effort for more accessible mental health services by opening a second Beacon Center on Genesee Street. It was a priority to get more mental health assistance in Oneida County as some waitlists would last for up to six months – a hefty wait time. The new clinic opened on Monday, Mar. 27, at 1508 Genesee St. and takes appointments and walk-ins. (WKTV)
