- A bipartisan mayoral forum was held on Saturday, Jun. 10, at the Oneida County History Center, organized by the Utica-Oneida County branch of the NAACP, League of Women Voters, Black Leadership Coalition, Mohawk Valley Latino Association, and Cornhill Neighborhood Association. As the New York State Primary election approaches in a few weeks, the four candidates emphasized the significance of addressing community concerns such as housing, homelessness, and lead poisoning. Don't forget to note the important dates: the election starts on Jun. 27, with early voting beginning on Saturday, Jun. 17. (WKTV)
- 36-year-old Willie Linder plead guilty on Friday, Jun. 9, at Oneida County Court, to second-degree assault and third-degree possession. There are also two co-defendants in the case, 29-year-old Jovan Mullenaxin and 30-year-old Shakeal Hendricks. Police state that the three individuals were involved in a shootout near the 1400 block of Whitesboro Street, where a candlelight vigil took place for an unrelated shooting victim. A 12-year-old boy was the victim of a bullet due to this gunfire caused by Linder, Hendricks, and Mullenax. (Daily Sentinel)
- Anthony J. Picente Jr. an Oneida County Executive, announced the new Oneida County Nurse Navigation Program, which began on Jun. 6. This program will insure and increase the functionality of the 911 dispatch system due to non-emergency health-related calls now going to licensed nurses. This allows for the police and ambulance to prioritize more urgent emergency calls as quickly as possible. (Oneida Daily Dispatch)
