1. Good News Foundation supports Sitrin Military Program Program with $30K 'Flags for Heroes' check – Central New York Business Journal (cnybj.com subscription) — A Utica-area nonprofit has delivered a record $30,000 boost to Sitrin’s Military Program, funded by this year’s ‘Flags for Heroes’ display along Utica’s Memorial Parkway. The donation will help local veterans and service members facing injuries, PTSD, depression, and other challenges access specialized rehabilitative care close to home.
   

2. MV Biotech Collective unites MMRI, MVHS, SUNY Poly core strengths – Central New York Business Journal (cnybj.com subscription) — A new Utica-based Mohawk Valley Biotech Collective is uniting MMRI, MVHS, and SUNY Poly to turn the region into a biomedical innovation hub. Leaders say the partnership will blend research, clinical care, and education, use AI to speed discoveries, and attract new biotech companies and jobs to the Utica area.
   

3. Governor declares State of Emergency for much of Central New York (cnyhomepage.com) — Utica is under an active Snow Emergency as a major winter storm prompts Governor Hochul to declare a State of Emergency for 36 New York counties, including Oneida. Local agencies must extend shelter access under Code Blue rules, and residents in Utica and nearby villages like Ilion, New York Mills, and Whitesboro should prepare for hazardous conditions and restricted street parking.
   

4. Large emergency response to house fire in Verona (cnycentral.com) — Utica firefighters were among many departments called to a deadly house fire Wednesday evening on Main Street in the Town of Verona, where one person was found dead inside. Crews and investigators are still working the scene, Main Street in Durhamville remains closed, and officials say more details will be released as they confirm the victim’s identity and cause of the blaze.
