- State Police have been cracking down on underage drinking in Oneida County. State Troopers checked dozens of liquor shops, gas stations, and grocery stores in Utica and the rest of the county last week. Out of all the locations, only one was found not in compliance with the laws. Syomi S. Formikell, a 22-year-old employee of Cliff’s Local Market on Route 69 in nearby Oriskany, was charged with unlawfully dealing with a child (first-degree) and the prohibitive sale of alcohol to a person under 21 years old. - Early voting in New York State began Saturday, Jun. 17, and runs through Sunday, Jun. 25. Ballots include primaries for Utica Mayor, 4th Ward Councilperson in Utica, and several Oneida County legislator positions. Early voting polling places in Oneida County include MVCC Alumni Center in Room 116, New Hartford Town Hall, and South Rome Senior Center. (WKTV)
- On Thursday, a citizen found a neglected and emaciated dog on Schuyler Street in Utica. Anita’s Stevens-Swan Humane Society (SSHS) is helping the dog and named her Angel. Due to her condition, her breed and age are unknown but some are guessing she is around 2 years old. Angel will not be ready for adoption until she is healthier and donations to Anita's SSHS for her care are greatly needed. Please call Utica Animal Control at 315-223-3557 if you have information about the dog's previous owner. (WKTV)
