Here are the top three stories in Utica today:
- The World Box Lacrosse Championships will take place in Oneida County next year, including the first-ever women's tournament alongside the sixth men's international tournament. The events will run from Sept. 13-22, 2024 at both the Adirondack Bank Center and the Utica University Nexus Center, featuring up to 30 men's teams and 10 women's teams competing for championship titles. Utica Mayor Rob Palmieri said the event is an incredible honor to host and will create an unprecedented atmosphere in the city. (WKTV 2 News)
- A teenager is facing felony charges after allegedly making threats of a shooting at a Utica middle school and sharing photos of guns. The Utica Police have stated that no one was in danger, and the guns were both BB guns. The unnamed teen has been charged with making a terroristic threat, and the police have seized the two BB guns that were included in the photograph. (WIBX)
- The Utica Department of Codes Enforcement has added two new electric sedans to its fleet as part of the city budget and will be used by officers on regular neighborhood patrols. Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri said that the purchase of the vehicles reflects the city’s commitment to staying on the cutting edge of technology while protecting the environment. (WKTV 2 News)

- Starting May 3 until May 7, Albany St. from Pond Lane to Christensen St. will be closed due to emergency infrastructure repairs. The repairs are necessary and must be made before the road is paved on May 8. (City Of Utica via Facebook)
