2024 In Review: Best 'Patch Spotlight' Interviews Of The Year

LONG ISLAND, NY — Over the past year, the "Patch Spotlight" has shined a light on Long Islanders from various walks of life.

There have been one-on-one interviews introducing you to people with unique stories. Some of the "Spotlight" guests are already well known.

Here are some of the 2024 "Patch Spotlight" favorites.

• A popular Hicksville restaurant closed during the summer, but one longtime customer wanted the former firehouse site turned into a historic landmark.
• Merrick's own Craig Allen reflected on his decades at WCBS 880, which was sold in August, thus ending a legendary chapter for media in New York.
• The Wantagh School District hosted its first 5K run to honor the victims of 9/11.
• A Manhasset Hills businessman lived out the dream of many — becoming an astronaut.
• The son of 1970s singer-songwriter Jim Croce talks about his famous dad and his concerts, which combine the past and present.
