57-Year-Old Struck By 18-Wheeler, Hospitalized: Police

WANTAGH, NY. — An unidentified 57-year-old man was hospitalized in stable condition Thursday after being hit by an 18-wheel truck in Wantagh, police said.

Nassau County police said the man was crossing Sunrise Highway east of Oakland Avenue at the time of the crash, in which he suffered “severe body trauma.” He was taken to the hospital in a Wantagh Fire Department ambulance, police said.

The truck driver remained at the scene, police said, and an investigation into the accident is ongoing. Police did not report any arrests or charges related to the crash.
