Newman Takes Instructional Leadership Role In Long Beach Public Schools
The role comes after serving 13 years as vice principal at Long Beach High School.

LONG BEACH, NY. — At a time of year when millions are shopping for gifts to celebrate the holidays, Long Beach High School Vice Principal Dr. Francine Newman got an exciting gift Monday: a new role as the school district’s director of instructional support.
The new role will see Newman shaping academic programming across Long Beach’s school district, taking experience earned as a vice principal and expanding it to students of all ages. District officials cited Newman’s “instructional expertise, strong organizational leadership and an unwavering commitment to students, staff and families” as some of the characteristics that equip her to fill the role, while also highlighting her experience in academic programming, student management and staff support as a high school vice principal.
That experience, the district said, included the development of the school’s “master schedule,” creation of its course catalog, sectioning, staffing and coordinating with teachers all while projecting budget and staffing needs in partnership with the district.
